Valmet introduces new new compact moisturizer for self-adhesive laminators

Finnish company Valmet has introduced a new moisturizer for self-adhesive laminators to correct curls and cross-direction moisture profiles.

The new Valmet IQ Converting Moisturizer is said to be a compact micro droplet moisturizing system. It is based on the industry’s most advanced family of moisturizing systems.

It is claimed to be air-atomized micro-droplet nozzles with a 50mm spacing and is controlled with high-accuracy linear water control valves.

Valmet automation business manager Mikko Talonen said: "With IQ Converting Moisturizer, self-adhesive label manufacturers can control curl much faster and more accurately compared with conventional steam or spray systems.

“Its remoistening capacity is up to five times higher compared with conventional systems, making it an excellent choice for high-speed lines, too. The new moisturizer can be connected to CD/MD controls to stabilize product quality during speed and grade changes."

The company offers a range of self-adhesive laminating lines. In addition to water spray system that can control curls and moisture levels and CD/MD controls, the company’s solution offers an array of online quality measurements to get accurate and fast information from the process.

Valmet’s solutions are also claimed to include web inspection and monitoring systems that help in detecting quality defects and can also identify their root causes.

In 2016, Valmet’s net sales reached about €2.9bn. Based in Espoo, Finland, it is supported by a workforce of 12,000 professional from around the world,.
