UK glass packaging manufacturer Beatson Clark is investing over £2m to improve the operations at its Rotherham facility.

The company’s investment enables to improve the operations of all areas ranging from glass melting, production, inspection, packaging and IT.

The engineers have installed a new amber bottle making machine and upgraded the forehearth at the facility between Christmas and the new year.

Beatson Clark has upgraded the forehearth to enhance glass homogeneity, which will allow to deliver better quality glass to the machine for producing quality bottles and jars.

The company is also planning to install a new Tiama MX4 inspection machine, which will use light sensors to inspect smears, splits and wall thickness in the glass.

Beatson Clarl has also installed new strapping facilities for glassworks at the facility, enabling to reduce the de-palletisation time for high speed lines.

In addition, the firm invested in a QAD enterprise resource planning system, which features an updated customer relationship management (CRM) module that incorporates all areas of the business.

During the last 10 years, the company invested £20m for improvements, helping to maintain quality and provide better services for the customers.

Beatson Clark marketing manager Charlotte Taylor said: “Consistent investment in new machinery and technology allows us to remain a market leader in the glass packaging industry.

“Providing the highest quality service for our customers is integral to the core values of the company. We aim to be flexible, responsive and supportive, and the new software will further improve our already high standards.”
