Packaging solutions provider TricorBraun has purchased Canada-based flexible packaging manufacturer Taipak Enterprises for an undisclosed price.

The acquisition marks TricorBraun’s entry into flexible packaging.

Headquartered in Richmond, British Columbia, Taipak provides a complete line up of standard and custom flexible packaging solutions. These include boxes, bags and pouches.

Its solutions are tailored for various industries like beverage, coffee and tea, confectionary and dry foods, processed and frozen food, seafood and meat products, health and wellness, retort food, pet products, and non-food products.

TricorBraun executive chairman Keith Strope said: “The acquisition of Taipak represents a true milestone for TricorBraun: It’s the very first time in our more than 100-year history that we have entered the flexible packaging industry.

“It’s a move that significantly increases our product offering and capabilities.”

Following the acquisition, Taipak will be renamed as Taipak, A TricorBraun Company with its current owners Joey Lin and Charanjit Hayre retained to handle the business.

TricorBraun CEO Court Carruthers said: “Taipak adds brand new capabilities to our growing resources and we’re excited that it is now part of the TricorBraun family.”

TricorBraun is into manufacturing of glass and plastic containers, closures, tubes and dispensers.

The company has operations in 40 sites located across North America and outside of it in London, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Mumbai.

Their JV, dubbed TricorBraun South America SAS, is owned 50-50 by the partners and is headquartered in Bogotá, Colombia.
