Pyroll to buy Stora Enso’s sheeting service business in Germany

PKBR Staff Writer Published 23 November 2017

Finnish converting firm Pyroll has agreed to acquire Stora Enso’s sheeting service business in Baienfurt, Germany.

In April 2009, Stora Enso commenced the operations of sheeting centre with 100% ownership.

Stora Enso is divesting the business to focus more on its consumer board business, helping to produce quality virgin fibre carton board.

The acquired business will allow Pyroll to expand its sheeting operations. Stora Enso will continue as a customer to the Baienfurt sheeting centre.

With around 60 employees, the sheeting centre has reported sales of around €15m in 2016.

The deal is expected to complete during the first quarter of 2018.

Pyroll Group owner and chairman Reino Uusitalo said: “We are very happy to add the Baienfurt sheeting service centre to the group which already contains four service centres.

“Availability of the service in the right locations plays an important role when reaction times are getting shorter. Therefore, expanding our service network will open new possibilities for all of our customers.

“Our previous investment in Winschoten in the Netherlands shows especially that service sheeting for paper and paperboard producers in their main market area has increased, and therefore we were encouraged to take this step as well.”

With around 600 employees, Pyroll operates three business units, including Pyroll Packages, Pyroll Paper Merchant, and Pyroll Converting.

The group produces paper, cardboard, paperboard, and plastic converting solutions.

Stora Enso provides renewable solutions for customers in the packaging, biomaterials, wooden constructions and paper markets.
