manroland web systems unveils new press for flexible packaging printing

PKBR Staff Writer Published 27 February 2018

German packaging printing press-manufacturer manroland web systems will be showcasing its new flexible packaging printing press VARIOMAN f:line between 27 February and 1 March in Augsburg.

The printing press system combines the benefits of varied technologies and processes while specifically avoiding weak points that are inherent in other technologies.

The press is an offset gravure hybrid press, which can print foils and benefits of mature design, system integration and service and maintenance packages.

manroland stated that the new printing press is based on its decades of experience in offset printing, which has now been integrated with modern automation technologies.

The mixture of offset and gravure provide a particularly short make ready and changeover times with reduced start-up waste rates that are achieved through high levels of automation and format flexibility.

It is claimed that the printing system is ideal for printing flexible foils for Shrink-Sleeve applications along with other array of substrates, like foils, paper and aluminium foils.

The system is claimed to fit in the production gap of medium sized print runs with high offset printing technology and the cost benefits inherent in this technology. The special offset printing units have been developed with the cooperation partner Goebel.

VARIOMAN f:line has the capacity offer high levels of flexibility to its customers, which is an important factor in modern packaging printing. This includes the present day demands of several job changeovers, short runs with many sub-jobs and a plethora of ‘on demand’ print runs.

The printing system is said to be useful, particularly in the gravure printing in the areas of varnishing, adhesives and opaque white, which are considered to be important factors in packaging printing today.

With this system in place, both time and costs could be saved due to its high degree of modern automation in printing. The company also offers an all-round service package for the press.
