DS Smith opens new packaging facility for automotive industry in Poland

PKBR Staff Writer Published 12 October 2017

UK-based DS Smith has opened a new specialty packaging plant for automotive industry in Kielce, Poland.

The new 5,000m² facility will engage in the production of advanced corrugated cardboard packaging for the automotive industry.

The previous operating facility at the same site included a specialty packaging department, which provided services to customers in different industrial markets such as automotive, white goods and logistics.

It offered a range of packaging solutions for products, including car engines, aircraft components and bulk chemicals.

According to the company, the advanced heavy duty packaging enables customers to protect their products in transport and storage, as well as manage associated risks in the supply cycle.

DS Smith Poland and Baltics managing director Krzysztof Sadowski said: “The opening of the new plant will enable us to boost production, until recently restrained by the lack of necessary area.

“The previous facility had been in use since 1971 and was just over half the size of the new facility.”

In June this year, DS Smith inaugurated its fifth PackRight Centre, constructed at the Kaarst location in the Düsseldorf metropolitan area, Germany.

The PackRight Centre concept creates individual display and packaging solutions by considering all aspects of customer's respective supply cycle.

DS Smith said the PackRight Centre concept can significantly reduce the time-to-market, while bringing real added value to its customers.
