Clariant unveils new additive solutions for North American manufacturers

PKBR Staff Writer Published 15 May 2018

Clariant has unveiled new additive solutions for North American manufacturers at this year’s NPE event in Orlando, US.

The company said the solutions will support better innovation and sustainability in sectors like automotive and packaging with their increasing interest in advanced plastics.

At the event, the company has showcased additive solutions for plastic packaging, including AddWorks LXR 568 stabilizer.

The new stabilizer holds capacity to significantly reduce resin discoloration during the injection molding process, as well as in finished articles.

It will help to retain a purer transparent white in storage containers, lunchboxes and other rigid items.

Clariant is providing AddWorks LXR 568 in the form of free-flowing pills and micro-pills, helping customers to apply easily and conveniently.

The company has also exhibited Licolub FA 1, which is an FDA compliant and vegetable-based wax that can be used in various packaging applications for homogeneous colorant dispersion and better surfaces.

Clariant additives business unit head Stephan Lynen said: "Plastics are replacing traditional materials in many application areas because of their lighter weight and flexibility, and benefits in terms of energy savings and recycling. They also open up opportunities to embrace creativity and differentiation to engage consumers.

“We are delighted to extend our innovative additive solutions to North America to support plastics processors and product manufacturers with efficient sustainable ways to improve performance, safety and environmental-compatibility.”

The company has also showcased new additive solutions for automotive applications

The company has unveiled new AddWorks ATR 146, which is a low dosage and sulfur-free light and heat stabilizer solution for filled TPO compounds used in automotive interior applications.

Exolit OP 1400 solution has been developed to provide enhanced thermal stability and flame retardancy to polyamide parts, including charging infrastructure.

Exolit OP 560 is an effective reactive solution, which was certified as a preferable flame retardant for polyurethane (PU) foams by the US Environmental Protection Agency.

It enables to impart foams for seats, arm rests and head rests, helping to meet stringent emission and migration needs.

The firm has also exhibited new Licocare RBW lubricants and dispersing agents, which are based on crude rice bran wax. They help in providing better mechanical properties and enhanced surface finish for the automotive plastics parts.
